#756 How to Make a Life Omelet

Remember: Important Step = Break Some Eggs

In our last +1, we talked about the fact that I’m not the handiest of men and then we had fun getting our grit on as we stocked our toolshed with a range of sandpaper for the rough and for the fine Optimizing work we’re up to.

Today I’d like to step into the kitchen.

But first … I’d like to make another disclaimer. As I pointed out in Cooking 101 right before I nearly blew up our Vitamix (hah), I’m not the best cook.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fantastic salad maker and quite good at throwing Brussels sprouts into the oven but that’s about the extent of my culinary capacities. 👨‍🍳

With that prelude, it’s time for some Joseph Campbell life-cooking wisdom.

He tells us: “You can’t make an omelet without breaking the eggs.

That’s Today’s +1.

Want an omelet?

Let’s remember that a very important step involves breaking some eggs.

And, know this: It’s not an “Oops! I broke some eggs!” kinda thing—as if the act of breaking the eggs was a FLAW in the omelet-making process. The egg breaking is an essential FEATURE of the creative process.

And so it is with EVERYTHING we want to create.

It’s why Ray Dalio puts “failure” as an essential aspect of his success model and why all creative (and philosophical/spiritual!) teachers ever tell us we need to embrace the inevitable “mis-takes” and simply alchemize the data and get back to work a little wiser for the next spiral up in our evolution.

So…

Here’s to embracing the egg cracking as we make our life a masterpiece omelet!!!
