#126 How to Be Cool

Hint: Be Kind

At the end of our interview on her great book The How of Happiness, I asked Sonja Lyubomirsky to share one of the research studies she found most fascinating.

Get this: Sonja and her team went out to a grade school and ran a little study. She had half of the kids do acts of kindness each week for six weeks. The other half was a control group.

Fast-forward to the end of the study.

Guess what?

The kids who did something nice for other people were, at the end of the study, not only happier than the control group but they were also more *popular* than they were at the beginning.

That’s a pretty cool way to get cool, eh?
