#1089 Curiosity

Actualized the Optimizer

In our last +1, we talked about using data as a flashlight not a hammer.

With the right (read: GROWTH) mindset, there’s no such thing as “bad” data. We’re experimenters. The data’s all neutral.

Actually…

When we really get our minds right, all that data is POSITIVE as the days we miss the target often provide the best opportunities for growth. (Right?)

All of which makes me think of another one of the Top 5 virtues we haven’t talked that much about: Curiosity.

We’ve talked a fair amount about the other virtues that make up the Top 5 virtues that scientists tell us are most highly correlated with wellbeing: Zest. And Hope. And Gratitude. And Love.

But what about “Curiosity”?

How can we put THAT virtue to work in our lives?

Well…

There are a lot of ways we can do so but one of the most relevant for our purposes is to keep the ol’ hammer in the tool shed and get CURIOUS about what your flashlight can show you as you look at the data coming in.

Let’s pay more attention to the little things that are working. And the little things that aren’t working.

Let’s get CURIOUS.

TODAY.

Practically speaking…

What’s ONE thing you’re doing that really seems to work for you?

And…

What’s ONE thing you’re doing that just doesn’t seem to work for you?

How can you do more of the former and less of the latter?

TODAY!!!

Curiosity.

It might’ve killed the cat.

But it actualizes the Optimizer.
