#1033 Building an Epic Bridge

I Hereby Challenge You to Have a Series of Really Bad Days

Listen

In our last +1, we talked about the Big 2 Virtues.

Do you recall what science says are the two most important virtues for flourishing?!

(Well, do you?)

Hope + Zest.

Or, in our lingo: Hope + Energy.

We’ve gotta believe our future will be better than our present and that we have the ability to make it so and be willing to do whatever it takes to make it so and… Voila! We have a grounded, empowered, scientifically valid sense of Hope.

Throw in a good night of sleep, eating, moving and breathing and being present and prospering and we have Energy.

← The basis of all of our work together. 🤓

So…

Today I want to talk a bit more about the Energy side of things.

Remember the whole discussion about how a good night of sleep is the bridge from despair to hope?

As sleep genius Matthew Walker puts it: “I will summarize this section by offering a discerning quote on the topic of sleep and emotion by the American entrepreneur E. Joseph Cossman: ‘The best bridge between despair and hope is a good night’s sleep.’

Sleep.

It’s the bridge “between despair and hope.”

But…

You know WHY it’s such a good bridge?

Because it builds our Energy!! (Zest for the win!)

So…

I say… Why stop at sleep?

Imagine what happens when you build a bridge with not just Sleep as a foundation but Eating + Moving + Breathing + Being Present + Prospering.

I mean… It’s kinda hard to have a series of REALLY bad days when we honor the fundamentals and rock our protocol, eh?

Doubt me?

Try it.

That’s Today’s +1.

Let’s work our protocols, honor our fundamentals, and make our highs higher and our lows higher.

TODAY.

And…

Tomorrow.

And…

Let’s string together a ton of those Todays in 2020 and between now and 2050 as we see just how heroically awesome our lives can become.

P.S. As I typed that I thought of a little note from one of our Mastery-Coach Heroes. I have this on the stand in the studio I use for recording PhilosophersNotes MP3s:

Just want to say, this program has been the only thing I’ve ever done that’s made me conscious about my day. Starting the night before!

Nothing has kept me this consistent 🙌 👌 ✨

Have absolutely loved what it has done for me and my family.

← YES!!! Mastery Series Module III Carpe Diem for the win!

P.P.S. Not too long ago we talked about another Bridge.

In The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth John Maxwell tells us: “You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. That means developing great habits. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments, and that bridge must be crossed every day. Over time that daily crossing becomes a habit. And ultimately, people do not decide their future; they decide their habits and their habits decide their future.

I repeat: “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments, and that bridge must be crossed every day.

Let’s cross it Today.
